finishing up for AIVO

Well, I'm currently finishing up about 7 pieces for an upcoming group show at Lyndsay McCandless Contemporary Gallery that opens on June 21st in Jackson, Wyoming. The show is called AIVO (audio intensity visual overload): The Power of Collage. I'm one of 11 artists participating in the show. The pieces have taken an interesting turn in that many of them have turned out to be kinda like (for lack of a better description) "sketchbook paintings." I've ended up drawing on a bunch of them with colored inks, too, which has been a lot of fun. And, for whatever reason, these masked figures have been in my brain a lot lately. These pieces reflect that (more on that later). I'll be posting pics of the pieces - start to finish - on my flickr page soon...

yeah... like many of the creatures in my head, they're a blessing and a curse, have been there forever and will probably be there forever.

i like the way matisse put it: "the artist has but one idea. he is born with it and spends a lifetime developing it and making it breathe".

i feel like i'm just getting started.
